Do you get an understanding of where the artist is heading from the intro?

Yes, the start of the song 'Charlie Brown' is a bit like the traditional Coldplays songs, but at the same time its really original and a completely different idea than the others. The introduction is easy to understand.

Has the song been well understood and described?

Yes, Emily has a good idea and has described the song well

Are the images in keeping with the treatment?

Yes the images are all showing the setting of where the video will be or is Coldplay related.

Yes, i think its original because its a bit more different than all the other Coldplay videos, you can tell that she has really thought about it

I think that she could of added a bit more detail on camera shots and the camera movement

Evaluation For Unit 2 - Media Nationals

When I first entered the course I had certain skills. These included basic editing skills on Photoshop and Picnik. I also had basic knowledge of cameras and video cameras and an interest in photography. I knew a few of the basic
shortcuts for apple Photoshop, but I wasn’t very confident in using the different tools, and changing the options but now my skills have improved a lot and I know more about using Photoshop than i did, but I could improve. Also my skills on setting up a tripod and loading a tape and the basic conventions of opening sequences. When I first entered the course I had a good knowledge of using a scanner and putting it up onto my Blogger.

When I first started media I didn’t organise my folders and name them properly so it made it a lot harder for myself because I didn’t know what any of the files were so I had to waste time opening them all to check what they were, also I used to save my work to the desktop which also wasted time because if i had to use a different computer I didn’t have any of my work.

I try to take as much care as I can in my work by checking all spellings, cropping my photos,in my treatment I kept checking my grammar for example, using punctuation, using capital letters to make it all look more professional.

I have tried to be as creative as I can in all my work and I think my creativity has improved since I started this course because I have came up with better ideas for my work and tried to make my works presentation look better. I think I could still easily improve some of works creativity though.

I think that I have a lot of skills that I could improve, and there are some areas that I struggle with such as sometimes using photoshop I get easily confused with some of the settings and where everything is, also I don’t know some of the short-cut keys and I sometimes need to ask for help on how to do something. Naming my files is also another little thing I need to improve on, sometimes I forget and I save my work as ‘untitled’ so it makes it harder for myself when I come back to look at some of my work, because then I have to open and look through all the different files to find the file I’m looking for. Another thing I could improve is my page layout I think I should start to make my work look more presentable and professional. I still sometimes forget to put full stops and capital letters where they are needed.

Research Report

1. Explain what you have been researching and for what reason?

The research I have been undertaking has been focussed on attempting to find out about many things about the form of the Music Video. The research has looked into various aspects including the analysis of music videos from the same artists and similar genres. I have chosen videos from the artists LMFAO and Rihanna i chose these artists because i thought their music videos were really similar. The lyrics in the songs that i have chosen fit in with music video and really link with it. I created a mood board, which also included the lyrics and a treatment that said what i thought of the current video i chose which was Coldplay - Charlie Brown. In my mood board i have used background pictures that i have thought will fit in with the ‘coldplay’ theme such as images with bright colours such as yellows,pinks,purples etc. and other things such as fireworks,stars.

2. What were the findings from the research?

In my finding research I looked at various coldplay videos and concentrated on the conventions of the video for example their videos are all really original, they aren’t much like any other artists ideas. He uses a good selection of different effects in all of their videos, they aren’t all the same so it makes the video more interesting. The wardrobe variety also is quite unique and original which not many people have had ideas like in other music videos.

 I created this Podcast using Garage Band, i thought it was quite easy because i have used this program before, and its enjoyable to use because you can play around with the different sounds and make it like a proper professional Podcast. This was my favorite part of the this Unit because i like playing around with different sounds and making it funny and enjoyable for others to listen to.

Picture Board

In all the LMFAO videos they are always featured in, they use bright eye-catching colour's and the songs are always up beat and jolly songs. They all use motifs in there videos for example the logos on their t-shirts and theyre funky print trousers and their big glasses. In they're videos they are always doing something bad so in this one they are having a party and annoying one of the neighbors and not caring about anything except having fun, drinking and partying.
